Children Belong Here!

I don't think anyone can grow unless they're loved exactly as they are now."

-Fred Rogers

We love our children! They make us more joyful and curious just by being themselves. We work hard to make this a place where they want to be and where they can develop their own faithful walk with Jesus in good character.

At the Way, we have four big goals for our children:

  1. Develop their own relationship with God. We are working to teach our children about the character of God so that our kids can develop their own relationship with them. We seek to honor children’s questions and doubts as part of their growing faith.

  2. Build a strong sense of belonging and unconditional worth. We work to affirm every child’s individual identity, experiences, and strengths as good and beloved. In our community, every child is loved exactly as they are. We want our children to know that they are full members of the church and that faith is something we practice together in community.

  3. Cultivate compassion, empathy, and justice. We help our children see that loving God and loving our neighbors are one and the same. We do this by giving them age-appropriate ways to think about love, kindness, inclusion, and standing up for others.

  4. Practice spiritual disciplines to strengthen their faith. We help children make sense of Bible stories and themes that teach us how to live. We give children opportunities to engage in spiritual practices like prayer, gratitude, silence, or reflection they can carry into adulthood.

Beyond helping our children become faithful followers of Jesus, we also want to support you. Guiding children along their spiritual journey is not for the faint of heart and often comes with tough questions and challenges that can be hard to navigate alone. Our goal as a community is to walk alongside parents and caregivers and support them as they walk this journey of raising children who love God and love others. We’re happy you’re here and we look forward to learning more about you and your children.
